David is anointed king of Israel. What a glorious moment this must have been for him at the age of 30! How does someone get to be king at such an early age? How does a young shepherd get picked for God out of the line-up of his brothers who had so much more to offer on the outside? How does someone last forty years on the throne in the midst of war, scandal, murder, death, betrayal, and heartache, prosperity, poverty, heartache, and contrition? How does someone live with such greatness and imperfection at the same time? And how does a man get up when he has fallen with such weight on his shoulders?
And David became greater and greater, for the LORD, the God of hosts, was with him.
